Authentic bartending school?

in edison nj is it legit. i want to bartend part time... does anyone have any feedback on that school in Edison NJ and do you get paid good?Authentic bartending school?
First, many bartenders get paid well and a few get paid very well. Just a few get poor cash. It will depend on your interpersonal communication, bartending, and business skills. It also depends on where and what type of establishment you work at.

I have not nor will I attend a bartending school. But I view them as a fast track to your career. You may wish to ask for a few of its graduates and interview them on the job site. Also ask a few bars what they think about bartending schools in general. In all not too bad an idea. Be careful of the costs.

I attended Authentic Bartending School and it was most cheap out of all the others in the area. They worked with me to have a flexible payment plan and when I completed the course they helped place me in a top notch bar that fit my personality and desires. I would highly recommend the school.

I want to make money this summer and the rest of this winter break so that I don't have to work during the school year because it's getting annoying frankly. I'm 19 so I'm old enough to bartend in Colorado. Do not waste your money on Bartending school. I have been bartending for 10 years and never NEVER needed it. If a restaurant is willing to train you, then I suggest you jump at that chance. Sometimes you will need to be a sever before they will train you, so make sure you pay close attention to what the bartenders are doing. Ask questions (at the appropriate times) and make sure that your managers know that you want to bartend. If they see you paying attention and striving to get there, chance are they will be more motivated to promote you and get you trained.

going to bartending school is a waste of time, i worked as a bartender in restaurants and nite clubs and people that came in to apply with training from bartending schools were laughed at. get a job as a waiter at a restaurant and get promoted to the bar, it is the best way.

I agree that bartending school is a complete waste of your time and money. Most restaurants will not hire someone because of their 'schooling'. You're better to start in a serving or other position and work your way into it. In many restaurants, there is a waiting list to get those positions, because they're generally pretty lucrative.

I know three people who took bartending courses this past year. the ABC Bartending School on Kennedy was excellent, they really learned how to do the job and they assist with placement, the problem is there are no jobs. Two were good looking young men and the third was a beautiful woman. The only one able to find a job was one of the men who took a job in Tallahassee. the other young man told me only women could get a job, but the woman was also unable to get a job in the Tampa area. The problem is there are no jobs so if you only have the school and not years of experience you are not going to get a bartending job in Tampa at this time. Take a course to be a CNA and you will have lots of job offers.

Well it is not a bad idea. You should check and verify if they provide job placement to help make the cost worthwhile. Otherwise self-study and on the job training is a better way to go. It looks good on a resume and if you can get a bartending job while still learning, you get the best of both worlds. They should not only teach you to mix drinks, but how to interact with customers and how to deal with drunks. I can't recommend against bartending school, but my best advice is to visit lots of good bars and talk with and observe experienced bartenders. Then apply for any and all bartending jobs until you get one. If the bar has server positions available instead try that for a while to get your foot in the door.

bartending is a job, shyness is a mental state. You have to figure out, what it is that makes you feel that way, and deal with it. Trying to force yourself into something you may not be ready for could lead to complete failure, and distrust for life.

If you are afraid of what people think about you, forget it, they have so many hang ups about their selves, they find it easier to throw it at someone they don't know.

If your ashamed of what you look like, who the hell cares? Go outside, sit on th stoop, and watch people who walk by, take a look at them, a good look, and see if you see anyone who looks perfect. The answer will always be no, we all have our flaws.

If your afraid of being told no, guess what your not alone, nearly 98% of people are afraid of that word, but you know what? It has never killed anyone! It may hurt from a minute, but you get over it, and move on.

Get to work on finding out what is making you shy, and conquer it yourself.

Yes it can help you because it forces you to engage with different people all the time, but having said that if your a shy person then that may make things worse cos you have to be friendly and fun, not just put your head down and pour people their drinks, know what I mean.
