I attended a bartending school in Harrisburg and found it to be a leg up for employment. Within a week after graduating I acquired a job at a local restaurant just opening and was hired as a bartender and trained to wait the tables in front of the bar that the bartender is required to wait on. I posed the question to the bar manager "what if I didn't have the bartending school experience?". She said I may have been hired to be a server but certainly not a bartender because of my lack of knowledge of mixing drinks. Bartending school will teach you proper methods of everything relating to mixing and will change your perspective on appropriate amounts of alcohol and what to mix with certain spirits. The bartenders who haven't been through training are the ones screwing up the most basic drinks because they dont know what's to be stirred, not shaken and what ingredients go in popular drinks. Additionally most learn their garnishes by watching other bartenders so most of it is assumption rather than education.Authentic bartending school in philly?
waste of money, find a job at the bar you want to work at cocktailing or as a barback learn and move up, a school will only get you a job with a chain company that get paid for placement. I started this way 14 years ago and now am working in the finest hotel in vegas
