Any good tips on how to get a bartending job fresh out of Bartending school?

Go to the prospetcive bar you'd like to work at and sit down for a drink. Check out the dynamics of the place: the staff, cleanliness, see how the patrons act and tip ect. If you feel comfortable there, ask who is in charge of hiring and if they have any openings. It's always best to ask in person rather than over the phone. You are selling yourself. Anyone can learn to pour drinks, but you have to show that you have a personality that would make a good fit. You may have to check out several places to find one you like that's hiring but it's worth the research.Any good tips on how to get a bartending job fresh out of Bartending school?
Most bar tending schools offer job placement assistance, it's part of the draw to attend that school.

Being new at anything can make you a little gun shy. I suggest you start at a place like TGIF or Chilli's, something just to get your feet wet. A family restaurant that has a bar, maybe even Cracker Barrel.Any good tips on how to get a bartending job fresh out of Bartending school?
don't mention, that you actually went to bartending school ! i am serious - the industry snickers at those graduates, they don't hire them. the schools usually offer placements as part of the price you paid. start as a cocktail server to get your foot in the door, to gain hands on experience, while making great money, then see, if you still want to bartend. i used to make way better tips as a cocktail waitress.
Try calling around to the Hotel and Motel pubs or lounges in your area. They usually will give you a try during the day hours at first so you can get the feel of the bar you will be working at. I worked at the Quality Inn for 13 yrs. Thats how I got the job...Hope this helps.Any good tips on how to get a bartending job fresh out of Bartending school?
If you went to bartending school you wouldn't be asking this question...either go to a tavern or pub and ask if they are looking for help or look in your local paper in the classifieds, most places are looking for experienced bartenders, but a lot of small taverns/restaurant pubs will train you, having above average looks and a out-going personality will help...you will have to get a bartending license for the county or township where the bar that is hiring you is located, (you can get a temporary 30 day license or only bartend when another licensed bartender is on the premises) your application is sent to the county police dept. for a backround check of your criminal record, you also have to attend 1 mandatory bartending class, (4 hrs.) to get your certificate...there are fees for the license and training class. Bartending is a fairly easy job, hardest part is stocking and putting up with the intoxicated weirdos.

Good luck!

Ive worked in loads of pubs and got the jobs just by asking. No interview nothing! try it. ....i am currently in the middle of a 5 year phd in pouring pints of mild!!
dont tell anyone you went to bartending school. that is a sure way not to get hired!
Go to any pub and offer to first start as a bar back. Usually places hire from within. Work your tail off and you will quickly be promoted.
