Bar-tending school can teach you how to make drinks, measure, mix and come up with your own recipes. What they cannot teach you is how to handle the stress of a busy shift, cranky or rude customers the importance of good customer service or teamwork. These things you can only learn with hands on experience. I have worked in restaurants all my life and I have never worked anywhere that would hire someone straight out of bar-tending school. I would advise you to get a job in a restaurant, let them know that you are in bar-tending school, but are also willing to work your way up the ranks through experience (allot of restaurants promote the bartenders from within). Bar-tending is a very fun job that can be very rewarding, especially if you get into a god restaurant with good clientele. One thing to remember....The good always makes up for the bad. Good days make up for the bad days, good tips make up for the bad, good guests make up for the bad.....and so forth. Be very wise with your tips, it is very easy to fall into a pattern of ''oh what the heck, I will make more tomorrow'', and before you know it you don't have the money to pay your bills. I have seen it many times. One other very important thing. Remember, in the restaurant industry, you are working when everyone else is off, evenings, weekends, hollidays, peak times usually in the summer when maybe your family goes on vacation and you can't get the time free. You will very often have to choose between working and making your money and a family function or a party with your friends. Good luck and have a great time with your chosen career path!In going to bartending school any advice for when i do become a bartender ?

bartending school, in england we just get the job and pour away.
you didn't mention where you were located
if you are in the US, you will likely not be able to get a job as a bartender until you are 21, even if you can legally in your state. most bars don't want to have the liability and the idea of a bartender that can't even legally taset what they are mixing.
if you are going to school (most bartenders don't recommend it) the schools usually have a program to get you a job.
if you don't go to school, the majority of bartenders start as barbacks, who do all the grunt-work for the tenders, and work their way upIn going to bartending school any advice for when i do become a bartender ?
Always smile. Don't be afraid to do things like changing kegs or Co2 tanks. Tapping soda is also gonna be one of your jobs. Schlepping ice and cases of beer will give you great arms. It doesn't hurt to try to look sexy either. I loved it. I did it for 20 plus years. I made great money. No bar tending school for me. Best of luck.

Bartending is a great gig to get into, but being that you are 18, it may be quite difficult. You may need to start off bar backing or working at a place you'd may not think of, such as a bowling alley. Anyways, here is a very helpful article for new bartenders:
