Is Bartending a good job while going to school full time?

Hello everyone, Most of my friends are either DJ'S, Bartenders, or Bouncers, and they all agree that their jobs are awesome. My friends all go to school full time and work at clubs to pay for it. My only concern is that Bartending wont be stable enough to pay for my college. My Ex-girlfriend tells me that bartending pays really good but that you have to save the money for those days where you don get that many tips. I know I can get a job bartending because I know the right people; I just wanna know if it's a good idea if your going to school.Is Bartending a good job while going to school full time?

I think bartending is a fine idea. Negotiate your compensation, though. If you can get a guaranteed salary plus tips, good. As for good for school, it depends on where you tend bar. Me, I did work-study at the VA Hospital-untaxed minimum wage plus the GI Bill and Army College Fund.



Also, there is almost no job out there that will keep you up to speed with rising costs of tuition and books, but this depends on the school you go to. Know the financial aid office well and apply for government loans so you can complete your schooling. Almost everybody takes a little debt, and then you can pocket the money from bartending.
