Is bartending school worth it? I want to bartend at sports venue/arena?

The program I'm looking at is $295 and offers job placement/help too. Is it a good idea to enroll? Is bartending school worth it? I want to bartend at sports venue/arena?
1) Bartending school can be beneficial if it is a reputable place. basically you will learn drinks, no guarantee they will be current. Check the place out via reviews posted online.

2) You WANT to work at sports venue/arena? This is THE bottom rung of the bartending world. The needed qualifications to "bartend" at a sports arena are the same as the qualifications to "cook' at McDonald's, none. If that's what you want to do simply find out what company has the contract to supply bartenders to the sports arena you want to work at and apply with them.

3) Why do you want to work at a sports arena? If the answer is to make minimum wage and little to no tips while you pour draft beer, serve bottled beer, and make "specialty" BS drinks then by all means go for it. If you think you will get to see the game, meet the players, be where the action is, or any other cool idea then don't do it. You will never see the game, the service bars are outside the seating area and even the TVs are angled away from you; you will arrive before pregame to stock your bar and leave after the players due to clean up; and you are an anonymous worker, only hardcore season ticket holders who are there every game MIGHT learn who you are and tip you.

4) If you want to be a bartender apply for a busboy, barback, waitress, or shot girl position at a bar you would like to work at and work your way to the top.Is bartending school worth it? I want to bartend at sports venue/arena?
bartending school is a waste of time. you'll learn 30yr old drinks like a singapore sling and other such things and anywhere you go they are gonna laugh and be like OOOOKKKK...good job.....so how much real experience do you have? I bartended for 7 years and managed for 5. "bartending school" is a joke. you need to get into a bar, be a barback, and learn the business...once you can prove yourself as a barback, you start training to bartend....and then when you get the opportunity, you jump on it. If you are a chick, all you need is titties tho...if you are a guy...that's how it goes. I spent 6 months barbacking when I was dieing to bartend...it pays off in the end tho cuz you learn what bartending is...it's not just making a drink....its so much more...

ah and job placement....lol...you'll be lucky to make minimum wage including tips...dude, you just gotta get in there and put in the dirty work to get what you really want. I went 5 years bartending, working 3 days a week and bringing home $1,100 a week....you just gotta pay your dues...and when I was managing, I was the same way....a big tittied hott girl who had no idea what she was doing would be hired on the spot...a guy...better have bartended in more than just a red lobster to get even a second look at his app.Is bartending school worth it? Bartending school is a good option if you're the type of person who can't study and learn things outside of a classroom setting. However, what some of the other contributors have said about needing experience is also (partly) true.

I've hired hundreds of bartenders over the years and the thing I look for first is personality. They have to be outgoing, personable and sociable. Be able to strike up a conversation and entertain guests. Making drinks can be taught to anyone.

If you're serious about getting into the industry, getting a barback position was also good advice.

However, if you're a self-learner, then simply go to: http://www.bars-and-bartending.com/barte鈥?/a> and watch all the videos and practise at home.

And you can get all the bartending tools you'll need for about $40: http://bars-and-bartending.barstore.com/鈥?/a>

Hope this helps. Bartending is an awesome job that pays very well!Is bartending school worth it? I want to bartend at sports venue/arena?
Try talking to bartenders first, see how things work for them. After, that, if you see that you really like it, go enroll. And bartending is about showmanship and socializing so you should have a knack for that.
There's a school fOr that? Idk if that's crazy or awesome x)
