Is bartending school required?

I'm looking into becoming a bartender as a part-time job while in school. Is bartending school required in order to become a bartender? If it helps, I'm in Michigan and I will be turning 21 soon.

A lot of places wont hire an inexperienced bartender. so if that is how you want to get experience more power to you! Its not required but a cheaper route may be to go around to local bars and ask if they would be willing to train. That's how I got my start and I now run my own business as a personal bartender. you will love it!Is bartending school required?
