Is there a point to take bartending school?

is there any bars that require you to take bartending school to be eligible for employment? Is there a point to take bartending school?
You need to at least take some type of bartending course. You need to know what you are doing behind the bar you are working at. You need to know your drinks, bar setup etc. I was like you I wanted to bartend. School was way to expensive, and everyone on yahoo answers said bartending school was a rip off. My friend ordered a bartending book/course and she recommend it to me. I ordered it, the cost was 37.00. I studied , and when I felt confident in myself I applied for jobs. I go to school at FSU so I applied at some of the local bars. I got a job at a collage bar in town. I am making good money there. I really like my job. You do not need to go to a bartending school to get a job, but you do need to know what you are doing behind a bar and you drink recipes. Bartendingexposed.com is what I ordered. Good luck, hope this info was helpful. bartending is a great job.Is there a point to take bartending school?
Well, I can tell you that I have known a number of people who went to bartending school thinking it would help them get a job, and then guess what? It didn't help them get a job at all!

I think the best way would be to just get a job and get EXPERIENCE, and then when you start to outgrow the regular jobs and are ready to move up to something fancy, THEN you do bartending school for that job.

Cuz the good ones won't take you without experience, bartending school or no!
No, it's actually a little like people becoming certified in babysitting. It sounds appealing, but more people hire babysit off of experience rather than some stupid piece of paper.

I'm a bartender now, and before i got my big "break" a bartender gave me the best advice. She said, "learn as many drinks as you can" (from a book or something) then go into a bar that's hiring and tell them you don't have much bartending experience, but you can make ANYTHING...

that's how I got my job! hope this helps! ;) cheersIs there a point to take bartending school?
I went to a bartending school and did that job for 10 years. It is a good thing because you learn more than mixing drinks. No i don't think they would require it, but knowing how to make 300+ drinks from memory can sure help. PS- I made my money back in 2 weeks. A real collage I could still be paying for in 10 years. Bartender is a great way to get into management to.
Even with a degree in "Mixology" most restaurants/bars will still require you work from the bottom of serving all the way to the bar. Experience is a MUST to go straight to bartending. Is there a point to take bartending school?
If you want to get a better job then yes. If you go to school you will make more money, it's the same with any field. And how hard can bartending school be?
I don't know, but do you know what a "Money Coke" is?

How a true "Tequila Sunrise" is made?

How to make a "Sloe Gin Fizz"?

If not Id say Bar tending school is good.
if you don't want to look like a fool when someone comes up to you asking for a mixed drink yea
no
