I haven't personally been to bartending school but have been told it's a waste of time and money. The best thing to do is start going into bars and asking the manager if they are hiring and if they are willing to teach you how to bar tend. That's how everyone I know has done it. You learn hands on and no expensive school required. I can bet one of the topics in bartender school would be the laws of serving. Every bar that I've ever worked at has had a class to cover these topics....again, all free. (plus you're getting paid to learn)
One sure way of finding out about the topics covered would be to call a bartending school in your area and ask what all they cover.
