You get your license... or should, thru your employer.
I tend bar. You don't need to go to school either. People that sell you a class to make drinks are there to take your money. If you don't have the ingredient's. Then you can't make the drink. Pretty simple. Most people understand if you can't make what they want. They will order something more simple.
Depending on where you work that will dictate what you serve.
Normally you would want to know the house specialties. You can pick up a paperback bartenders bible (books with drinks in it) or get an app or two for free on you cell phone, iphone, itouch. That is what I use.
