Bars and clubs around here wont hire you unless you've gone to school. However the course you take is very short and easy, but it'll assure you a job over someone who hasnt taken the course (Unless they have years experience, but it'll still put you above several applicants). It wont take much time, it'll look great on applications, and it'll teach you things that you wont learn in an hour of on the job training.Should I go to bartending school or will a bar/club train me?
They will train sometimes ask around.. good luckShould I go to bartending school or will a bar/club train me?
Go to the school. Most won't train. Besides, at school you'll get proper training. If you went for OTJ training you could get a crappy teacher who teaches you the wrong stuff.
(Like what's in an Alabama slammer)
If your pretty, and are a quick learner, most bars will train you. 90% of bartending jobs is laughing, smiling and opening beer bottles or pouring a draft. Bartending school will only train you to make complicated drinks, that few people will order. To go Amazon.com and purchase a cockatail making guide, that's all you need.Should I go to bartending school or will a bar/club train me?
most bars wont let you become a bar tender at first. you must start out as a waiter and then apply. if you are accepted the employers there will likely have you apprentice under a current bar tender or let you practice before you can start on the job.
You should go to school because most bars / club will
not train you it would be REQShould I go to bartending school or will a bar/club train me?
It depends on the bar. Some bars will require you to be properly trained (at a school). If you have the time and money, I "highly" recommend going to a school. It's well worth it. You will learn things that maybe even the people where you are going to work at won't know (much less train you to know). It looks a lot better on a resume and therefore you can get a higher paying job. It's all up to you and where you want to work. GOOD LUCK!!
go to school.
i would say go to school that way you not only learn how to mix drinks but you will learn the laws that apply to bar-tending like at what point the club/bartender is required to say no more in my state the bartender and the club where they work can be held responsible if a customer leaves their business and has a crash where there is injury things like that are pretty important to know for sure not just what some other bartender might think is the law.
