Anyone attended National Bartenders Bartending School?

I have heard a lot of bartending schools are scams, but I was thinking about taking courses at one to get some experience. I'm already planning on studying some books and practicing at home with a make-shift bar. I was considering this school because I don't really know anyone in the F%26amp;B industry that could help with a shoe-in, so I thought this could possibly be helpful. (I wouldn't put it on my resume, however, or tell potential employers I took the course). Thanks!Anyone attended National Bartenders Bartending School?
I own a bar and I never consider a bartending school when hiring a new employee. Number one is personality. You also should be able to multi task and stay organized. It's never good to fold under pressure either. When I first started bartending my boss and friend gave me a list of about 80 drinks and shooters. He told me to memorize them and come back in week.



Most guys start by being a barback or bartenders assistant. Girls start serving first and then move to the bar. All bartenders tend to start with slower day shift before they can move to busier night shifts.



So I say don't bother with the school. Get a job as a server and learn as much as possible on the job.Anyone attended National Bartenders Bartending School?
Hi, Hope you don't think I am trying to down bartending schools to much but my friend and I have discussed this matter a few times. She went to bartending school and I ordered this bartending book off line. She still does not have a job, and I do. I think it is because the book I studied explained how and what to do step by step in a real bar atmosphere, and school was a very fast paced atmosphere for her. She ended up ordering the same bartending book as me.I loved this book! You can learn what you really need to know, not all this stuff about how wine and beer is made. No one ever asked me how beer is made? they just want a beer. I wouldn't waste all that money on school, but some people dont know about this bartending book.
