Have you ever been to bartending school?

If so, how did you find your first bartendering job? Did the school help you? Was it hard? How did it go? I want to take bartending classes here in NYC, but the thing, is that a lot of the jobs/bars here have a tendency to be very picky when hiring. So, I wondered if it'd be worth it. I'd really like to bartend, but would like to know how the process goes. Thanks. Have you ever been to bartending school?
ive been bartending here at school for a few years now, and since im in a college town, working at my second college bar, my knowledge of drinks doesnt have to be to vast. So, id recommend going to bartending school just to learn the drinks and whatever else they can teach you there. Or do what i do, get a job at a college bar where they just want beer or something mixed with coke, the money is good in the bartending game.Have you ever been to bartending school?
i went, it wasn't too hard and only took me 2 weeks. honestly tho the only way it helped me get a job was by telling me what bars were hiring, although i did learn alot of drinks to make. I only bar tended for 2 different bars then a friend offered me an IT job that was better suited to my schedule. personally i think it was definitely worth it but not necessary although i had a blast doing it!Have you ever been to bartending school?

i took them. Honestly if you sit down and dedicate time to study drinks and practice 'flare' at home, you really dont need to pay for classes. thats all youre paying for anyhow....a block of time where youre forced to learn lol
