Bartending School?

I was considering going to bartending school but a lot of people are telling me it's a waste of money but usually the people that tell me it's a waste of money are people who "bartend" at restaraunts and all they do is basic stuff like pour drafts and shots. I want to learn EVERYTHING but I don't want to waste my money. is there anyone who's actually been to bartending school who would have an educated opinion.Bartending School?
It's a joke. We laugh at the "know it alls" who waste their money on bartending school and then apply at our bar. Any decent establishment wants an experienced bartender i.e. years of paid experience. Most bartenders start out in the places you described, pouring simple drinks and drafts. I have met a few bartending school graduates...they tend to think there is only one way to make a drink(the way they were taught) and can't grasp the concept that nobody cares what they learned in the "bartending academy" the customer wants the drink the way THEY want it...which may be the way they had it at another establishment. They usually have never worked in a restaurant or bar before and have no idea how things really work. My advice is to get a good book that describes all the standard drinks and how they are made and study it. Get familiar with the different types of liquors and their flavor profiles. Then sit at the well when you go to the bar, try different drinks and watch what they are doing, which bottles they use, what glass they pour into, which garnish they use, whether they blend, shake or free-pour it over ice etc... feel free to ask the bartender questions if they aren't busy and don't forget to leave a fat tip!Bartending School?
I have been to a lot of bartending classes and i feel learning from an expert gives you an exposure to the thought process.

ofcourse if you are like me who has been around drink mixers since 5 yrs of age you will be in tune with it.

if you want to break it big in the hot locations you may wanna get a professional certificate or so coz sometimes it is a prerequisite. if ur looking for TGIF kinda gig you'l have inhouse training and a job.

all the bestBartending School?
waste of money, get a job as a server at a restaurant them work your way up to the bar and go from there. you pourcolored water at bartending school and bars laugh at people that go to bartending school. the only way that it may be a good idea is if you are a drop dead georgous girl with an amazing body, then it may helpBartending School?
as a manager that has hired probably 75 bartendrs, if youve bartended before you will probably get hired, but there is no reason you should not go to bartening school. Someone applying for a position that has had bar traing versus someon that hasn't who do you thinks goanna get the job?The person with training. Yeah you can work your way up from server or you can get hired in bar training and its faster.
