I'm thinking about going to bartending school but i have absolutely no idea what its about..



how much does it cost, is it worth it, and is that the best way to learn?

If you already have a gig an want to sharpen your skills bartending school is great. If not beware. I went to Bartending College in Denver. If you have no experience and go then you can expect to leave looking for a job at a bowling alley or college bar. They sent me to a few high end places and I'm glad the people were cool. They felt bad the school sent me to them. They told me just that go find a nice slow bar to start at or go start as a bar back somewhere.



There is the real advice get a start as a bar back somewhere were you can learn the real skills. They will teach you want you need to know and then spend time on your own playing around mixing drinks.



So my final advice bartending college might be worth it after you've been a bar back or bartending somewhere divey and you are ready to make the jump up.Questions abour bartending school?

Why go to bartending school ?Go to your local hostelry and watch what the people behind the bar do,listen and learn.Then approach any decent innkeeper and ask for a job,if you then still like being the hub of conversation,the person that listens to everyones problems and still manages to keep the bar running consider going to an approved school to learn the necessary skills to progress further in the job.To be a good barperson looks deceptively easy but is a very hard thing to achieve.
