if that is your passion, go for it! i read the usc book on mixology and bartending (one of them at least) and there is a lot of information to learn. not just what goes into a drink but how to set up a bar so it is easy to access things, trick and tips for serving drinks faster, all kinds of stuff. you wont learn bartending by sitting down with a book and reading, you need to learn with a class. theres too much to learn by just reading. plus, looks good on your job application. oh yeah, one hint from the book, dont ask the bartender for a bartending job, go straight to the manager. the bartender might already have a ffriend he wanted to put in the bartending business.Is bartending school worth paying for?
think of it this way if u want to be a bartender for the rest of your life and thats what u love u should spend some time and money making yourself a lil better then the next person u might know how to make a drink but if u go to school they show u how to deal with the old drunks that wont leave and the underage kids that try and pass fake id's and how to manage yer time so yer not running around like a chicken with its head cut off because people are screaming at u id say do it u will make better tips if your a better bar tender. just make sure that its an acredited school and that there legit before forlking over the money, better safe then sorry
