What exactly do you learn in bartending school?

I am planning on becoming a bartender and taking classes next month.



But what exactly does bartending school teach you?



And what knowledge should I have prior to going?What exactly do you learn in bartending school?
No prior knowledge needed, really.



Depending on the school you'll:

- learn 100+ drink recipes

- become TAM-certified which is basically a certificate saying you know how to deal with drunks (depending on where you are it might be necessary)

- receive a crash course in customer service

- gain knowledge of the different liquors (their history, how they're made, example brands etc.)



Some schools also offer a job placement service, where they'll help you find a job after you graduate.What exactly do you learn in bartending school?
Nothing. Get a refund if you can! It's been said lots and lots of times on answers....Go become a bar back or server and learn thru experience. Really that is the best way. Good Luck.

Bartending school teaches you how to make %26amp; mix a variety of old and new drinks, and cocktails. Buy yourself a bartenders bible which will have recipes for all sorts of drinks. Also if you are paying good money for this class make sure the school is using actual liquor, and not just colored water %26amp; ice tea. You need to study up on the types of bar-ware and types of different glasses for drinks. I will pass on a free recipe for you and anyone else who reads this comment for a drink called a Dr. Pepper. Here's how it's made. Get yourself a frosted beer mug and fill it 3/4 of the way full with Honey Brown Beer. Second get yourself a full shot glass and pour 3/4 of the shot-glass with Root Beer Schnapps, and then add to the shot-glass 1/4 Amaretto topped off with a drizzle of 151 rum.
